Rangers’ shortstop Elvis Andrus accomplished the nearly-extinct feat of pulling off a straight steal of home on Tuesday night against the Padres.
In the seventh inning, Andrus was on third base when he caught Padres’ reliever Kevin Quackenbush napping, and took off.
Andrus became the first Rangers player since some guy named Scarborough Green stole home back in 2000.
According to STATS Inc., the last Ranger with a straight steal of home was Scarborough Green on May 26, 2000 versus Minnesota.
