Looking to make its way back into the playoffs next season, the Charlotte Hornets have locked up a cornerstone piece in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, giving him a 4-year, $52 million extension.
‘The agreement will be finalized this week with a news conference to follow, league sources said.
As a member of the 2012 NBA draft class, Kidd-Gilchrist is eligible for a rookie extension prior to the start of the 2015-16 season.
Then, the player said, Leaf began to cry.
“He said, ‘After all I’ve done for you and after all I’ve done for you guys.’” the player recalled. “He was calling us names. ‘I’ve done this for you, I’ve taken all of you in. This is how you treat me.’”
While MKG’s offensive production doesn’t warrant this type of contract(he averaged 10.9 points and 7.6 rebounds last year), he has established himself as one of the best defensive players in the league.
